In the automotive realm, whispers of the Honda Accord e:HEV 2023 making its debut at this year's GIIAS have stirred anticipation. It seems PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) is gearing up to unveil yet another hybrid marvel in the near future.

This model would mark Honda's second foray into the realm of hybrid vehicles, following the official launch of the All New Honda CR-V e:HEV at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in August 2023.

Yusak Billy, the Business Innovation and Sales & Marketing Director at HPM, directly disclosed the plan to release another hybrid model from the Japanese manufacturer. "There will be two hybrid models this year. One is the CR-V, and for the other, just wait, next month, not long," explained Billy during an encounter at Sentul Circuit, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday, November 19, 2023.

Despite revealing the launch schedule, this amiable gentleman remains tight-lipped about the model itself. "I can't mention the model yet; just wait until next month," he succinctly stated.

Based on the information we've gathered, the latest prediction for Honda's upcoming hybrid release in December 2023 is the Accord e:HEV.

This midsize sedan, a rival to the Toyota Camry Hybrid, was previously showcased at the GIIAS 2023 event at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, in August.

Within the Honda family lineage, the model entering Indonesia is the 11th generation Accord. Apart from the hybrid model, it also features a variant with an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE). The engine mirrors the All New CR-V, with the ICE variant sporting a 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder Turbo engine generating 194 PS at 6,000 rpm and a torque of 260 Nm at 1,700-5,000 rpm.

On the other hand, the hybrid variant utilizes a 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder Atkinson Cycle engine, complete with a battery and electric motor producing 204 PS and a peak torque of 335 Nm.

Going beyond, this vehicle boasts active safety features, including Honda Sensing. This feature has undergone technological advancements, incorporating a new camera capable of detecting a broader image up to 90 degrees and a radar covering a range of 120 degrees.

In addition to this, additional features such as Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition are integrated into the latest Accord.

It's highly likely that the All New Accord destined for release in Indonesia will also come equipped with Honda CONNECT. This is a mobile application allowing users to connect with their vehicles remotely and access various features.

The arrival of the 11th-generation Honda Accord in Indonesia was already hinted at through design patents released by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia No. 1/DI/2023.

The upright H-logo-bearing manufacturer had submitted a design patent for a four-door sedan, registered under the name of Honda Motor Co.LTD, located at 1-1, Minami-Aoyama 2-chome, Minato-ku, Tokyo, 107-8556, Japan.

The design, crafted by Takuya Miyazawa, was registered on June 8, 2022, and officially announced on January 16, 2023.

While the leaked DJKI design patent doesn't specify the name or type of the sedan, the unmistakable resemblance to the 2023 Honda Accord launched in the US earlier in the year is hard to deny.
